Pulsed iontophoresis offers certain advantages over direct current iontophoresis:

• Excellent adherence to treatment;
• The pulsed current prevents the occurrence of an electric shock in the event of a circuit break . Therefore, warning patients about this possible side effect is no longer necessary;
• The patient therefore carries out his iontophoresis sessions in a relaxed and serene manner;
• With the fear of possible minor jolts eliminated, adherence to treatment will be all the better;
• Even better tolerance;
• Even rarer side effects.

Some patients have difficulty tolerating direct current; this is not the case with this new current which benefits from excellent tolerance, including in children.

Pulsed current also makes it easier to treat the armpits .

The delivery of the current in the form of pulses causes a better skin response. Since pulsed current does not cause strong membrane polarization, adverse effects in the form of electrolytic burns are extremely rare.

Following the studies we have carried out on this form of current, we have selected a medium frequency current for its excellent tolerance/efficiency ratio. This current is of the rectangular, monopolar type, the pulse duration is 60 µs.

This comfort has, it must be admitted, a drawback: pulsed iontophoresis is not always as effective as direct current iontophoresis.

So in case the hyperhidrosis is really severe, the current of choice will always be direct current for the hands and feet.

Indications: Palliative treatment of excessive sweating of the hands, feet, armpits (armpit electrodes optional).

Contraindications: Pacemaker wearers, pregnant women, wearers of osteosynthesis equipment.

Precautions: Adapt the intensity according to the patient's morphology, especially for children.

Side effects: Hyperkeratosis due to maintenance sessions that are too close together, appearance of vesicles in the event of strong pressure on the grids and direct contact with the stainless steel electrodes.
